Iron oxide brown CAS 52357-70-7 is a mixture of iron oxide red and ferrous oxide. Insoluble in water, alcohol, and ether, soluble in hot strong acids. High coloring and covering power. Good light and alkali resistance. Waterless permeability and oil permeability. The colors vary depending on the process, including yellow brown and red brown.

Application

Inorganic brown pigment. For coloring plastics, its application range is similar to that of iron oxide red, but when used in polyvinyl chloride, it should be avoided to use lead salts as heat stabilizers. Also used as a paint colorant.
