Zinc stearate dissolves when heated in organic solvents and becomes a colloidal substance when cooled. It decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding zinc salts when exposed to strong acids. Has lubricity, moisture absorption, non-toxic, slightly irritating, pollution-free, and non hazardous properties. By utilizing the properties of zinc stearate soluble in benzene while calcium stearate insoluble in benzene, zinc stearate and calcium stearate can be separated.
