Application

Raw materials for producing metallic lithium. Fluxes used in the production of metals by electrolysis, such as titanium and aluminum, are used as welding agents for aluminum, dehumidifiers for air conditioning, and special cement raw materials. They are also used in flames and in the production of lithium manganese battery electrolytes in the battery industry. Anhydrous LiCl is mainly used for electrolytic preparation of soldering and brazing fluxes for metallic lithium and aluminum, as well as for moisture absorption (dehumidification) agents in non refrigerated air conditioners.

Lithium metal can be obtained by electrolysis of a mixed molten salt of LiCl/KCl at 600 ℃. Industrial lithium metal is produced using this method. Lithium chloride is also used as a dehumidifier in air conditioning systems, as a good flux in the electrolysis of metals or in powder preparation processes (such as titanium and aluminum production), as a precipitation agent for RNA, and as an additive in Still reactions.

Lithium chloride can be mixed with N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) to form solutions of different concentrations as a solvent for dissolving polymers. It is commonly used as an eluent for GPC measurement of molecular weight.
