Medical grade Salicylic acid CAS No.: 69-72-7 is Colourless crystals, usually needle-like, or a white, crystalline powder; odourless. Slightly soluble in water,soluble in boiling water, soluble in ethanol or ether.
Medical use of disinfection and antiseptic. It softens and loosens the horny outer layer of the skin (the epidermis) and is used in the treatment of various skin disorders such as ACNE, PSORIASIS, ICHTHYOSIS, WARTS and CALLOSITIES. Its sodium salt form can be use for antipyretic and antirheumatism; also it is a core ingredient to synthetize aspirin.

Pale pink to pale brown powder, it sublimating at the temperature over 76ºC in atmospherical enviroment, easily to decarboxylate and change into phenol and carbon dioxide when heated quickly. Its aqueous solution appears acid reaction, becomes purple with FeCl3. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water, easily soluble in ethanol or ether. Used as medicine, perfume, dyestuff, pesticide and rubber cure retarder.
