Purpose

This product is obtained by partial digestion and hydrolysis of pepsin. It can be used for routine cultivation of various microorganisms. USP specifies the use of this product for sterility testing, and is recommended for the cultivation of streptococci and the detection of hydrogen sulfide producing microorganisms.

High nutrient peptone is used for the production of bacterial toxins in culture media and for the cultivation of bacteria with high nutritional needs, such as Corynebacterium, Haemophilus, Neisseria, Pasteurella, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus strains.
