Appearance: White glossy crystalline or white crystalline powder

No odor, slightly bitter taste. Soluble in ethanol, chloroform, or ether, very slightly soluble in water, soluble in hydroxide alkali or carbonate alkali solutions.

Application

① Sedation: symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, hyperthyroidism, hypertension, functional nausea, and pediatric pyloric spasm

② Hypnosis: occasionally used for stubborn insomnia, but there are often aftereffects such as fatigue and drowsiness after waking up

③ Anticonvulsive: commonly used to counteract seizures caused by central stimulant poisoning or diseases such as high fever, tetanus, encephalitis, and cerebral hemorrhage

④ Anti epilepsy: used for the treatment of major and partial seizures, with quick onset and can also be used for epileptic status

⑤ Pre anesthesia administration

⑥ Used in combination with antipyretic and analgesic drugs to enhance their effects

⑦ Treat neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.
